Gratitude for our creativity.
As we pick up our needles and yarn, we're creators of something special...
Here’s what I’ve loved in knitting this week…
Do you too like
get excited by a yarn that’s brand new to you and delight in all the possibilities? I do…Sandi’s yarn review of Wooldreamers Mota, a Spanish Manchega & Merino Wool was so interesting! Not only for all the fiber information, swatch results, and project ideas… but also the background of where the wool came from. (Does anyone else love Manchego cheese?)
And this quote from
is just fabulous!“We all know stripes are potato chip knitting (just. one. more!)”
I laughed out loud when I read this in her post about her Finest Fit Socks: a designing adventure with short row heels and a gusset shaping.
If you love knitting socks, Lily’s design could be your next project!
And now… onwards to your weekly What To Knit Next issue!

This week’s knitting ideas you can't miss…
Finest fit.
Gorgeous stripey socks with an interesting heel construction to ensure a wonderful fit. Here’s what designer Lily France from
says:“I love the clean look of a classic short-row heel but am not keen on the way they have to stretch to accommodate the heel and arch. Human heels aren’t shaped like that! Hence the additional gusset shaping to accommodate heel sticky out-y ness (for want of a better word). The shaping can be modified to fit your foot perfectly.”
Mellow mood.
I love the double lines of raglan using a broken rib stitch. The rest of the top is simple stockinette and with the sleeves and hem done in 2x2 ribbing.
Majestic moose.
The Sarvva Sweater is a tribute to one of the most beautiful creatures in the Norwegian woods, the moose. As designer Trude Benson explains:
“The word «sarvva» comes from the Sami language lulesamisk, which not many people today use. So, this turned out to also be a tribute to both.”
For the love of textures & lace.
A gorgeous cowl that includes the right amount of “whelm” that keeps your interest throughout. Lace and textured stitches create a lovely light fabric but keeps your neck cozy and warm.
